Counseling & Mental Health Services
At Zamboni, the well-being of our students is a top priority. Our Counseling and Mental Health Services provide a safe, supportive environment where students can find help, guidance, and resources to navigate academic, social, and emotional challenges.
Our school counselors and mental health staff offer:

On-Campus Supports
- School Counselors provide guidance and counseling services to support the needs of students in the areas of academics, social-emotional, and college/career readiness.
- Social Workers: Offer resources and counseling for students experiencing challenges such as homelessness, foster care, or chronic absenteeism.
- School Nurses: Support student health needs and promote wellness across campus.
- Campus Safety Aides (CSAs): Ensure safe and supportive supervision before, during, and after school.
- Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs): Guide positive behavior interventions, social skills programming, and teacher training.
Programs that Build Belonging & Support
- AVID: Promotes positive school culture, strong relationships, and meaningful engagement in learning.
- Turnaround Arts- Kennedy Center (dance, art, music, drama and journalism courses)
- Culture and Climate: Provides clear routines and positive behavior practices to ensure a respectful environment.
- Assemblies & Field Trips: Designed to strengthen student connections and reinforce social-emotional learning.
- Attendance Awareness: Emphasizes the importance of daily attendance for student success and wellness.
- Wildcat Awards/ Positive Office Referrals and Recognition
- CJSF (California Junior Scholarship Federation) is an organization that awards scholarship and service
- Wildcat Black Student Union- dedicated to advocacy for black students, education and increase minority representation (open to all)
- PTA Family Game Night
Safety & Wellness Commitment
Zamboni follows the Comprehensive School Safety Plan, which includes:
- Regular practice drills (earthquake, lockdown, evacuation)
- Anti-bullying and harassment prevention policies
- American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Standard lessons per grade level (Suicide prevention and coping strategies)
- Annual mandated staff trainings (suicide awareness, child abuse reporting, diversity, and more)
- Close collaboration with PUSD Safety & Security, local first responders, and families
